Co-Chairman of China Carbon Neutrality 50 Forum, Chairman & CEO of China Hongqiao Group, Mr. Zhang Bo summarizes the Group's actions to achieve its carbon peak and neutrality goals below: 

Optimization of the energy structure. By moving production to Yunnan (rich in hydropower, wind power and solar energy resources), China Hongqiao has been able to build a green aluminum innovation industrial park, shifting from relying solely on coal power to hydropower, wind power and solar energy.

Optimization of industry structure. The Group has manages to maximize the green benefits of aluminum such as its lightweight and recyclability, actively promoting a circular economy.

Technological transformation. Since 2014, the Group has developed, built and put into practice the world's first full series 600KA super-large anode pre-baked electrolytic cell, leading the industry in completing its transformation towards ultra-low emission. 

Development of circular economy. Following the principle of "reduce, reuse and recycle", China Hongqiao Group has created a high-efficiency closed-loop recycling system for aluminum waste, improving the recycling of aluminum resources.

Energy saving and consumption reduction. The Group was able to optimize the production process, improving equipment efficiency and reducing energy consumption.

Low-carbon transformation of the industry. China Hongqiao Group has partnered with Aluminum Corporation of China to issue the Joint Proposal to Accelerate the Green and Low-Carbon Development of the Aluminum Industry. 

To achieve the national carbon peak and neutrality goals, the Group will focus on:

Scientific and technological research. Relying on the Weiqiao National Science Research Institute, the group facilitates R&D and application of technologies in three major sectors: green and smart manufacturing, blue energy and circular economy, incubating more than 300 science and technology enterprises.

Digital empowerment. The Group will focus on implementing 5G and industrial Internet technology to accelerate the construction of a more intelligent production, operation and management system. That includes upgrading design and production process, while developing intelligent manufacturing. to promote "digital" construction.

Environmental priority. Hongqiao places the green development of the industry at the core, fully integrating green development in the strategic plan, production system and innovation system of the Group.

Collaboration & Integration. The Group will actively promote collaboration both domestically and internationally to integrate new resources, develop new markets, and enhance competitiveness seeking mutual benefit and win-win results.
